Cal Mateu is located in Fort Pienc on the right side of “Eixample”; 15 minutes from the Sagrada Família and 5 minutes from the Arc del Triomf, nearby Ciutadella Park and Glòries Park which is the new and large green area in Barcelona and where the Agbar Tower stands.
Cal Mateu is close to every public transport (Metro, Bus, Train) and not far from the Barcelona harbour. From Cal Mateu you can walk down to the seaside and from there you can start a pleasant walk to the south, entering the Barceloneta, the fishermen’s district where you can lay on the beach and enjoy plenty of outdoors activities… You can head north to the Vila Olímpica, the neighborhood that hosted the athletes of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. From Cal Mateu you can go as well towards the city center by walking through the narrow streets of the “Barri de la Ribera”, the Gothic quarter and visit Santa Maria del Mar or Barcelona’s Cathedral.
Cal Mateu is just a nice, cozy and charming place to feel like a barcelonian in Barcelona.
How to get to Cal Mateu (from the airport)
A taxi should cost you between €35 and €45, depending on luggage. (4 People)
The Aero-Bus that takes you to the city center costs around €5, if you choose this, you need to get off at Plaça Universitat, right in front of the bus stop is the L2 metro, take it direction Monumental station, get off there and Cal Mateu is at 5-minute walking distance.
The Rodalies-Renfe Train, which departs from Terminal 2, takes you to Sants Station, change to one of the lines R1/R3/R4 and then get off at Arc de Triomf Station, from there you will be in Cal Mateu between 5 and 10 minutes on foot.
